Even with the long travel day everyone was up for our departure to get to the Capitol Building by 10:00 a.m. for the tour. We walked to Foggy-Bottom metro station for the train to the Capitol South station. We exited on the street and walked past the Library of Congress and Supreme Court building to the Russell Senate Office building.

The security was thick and I can't imagine having to deal with it everyday. The long line for the Visitor Center made us appreciate our Senator staff coming through with the tour.
Once inside and a little confusion and questions we found Senator Schmidt's office. Three young staffers in the waiting area helped us with bathrooms and then we headed out to the Capital with the young lady staffer.

We grabbed an elevator to the tunnels and using them made our way to the tram senators use to get to the capital. More security here and then a quick ride.

Once in the Capitol building we worked our way through many tours of school kids very easily.

We all forgot her name, but from MO and attending law school at Washington University in St. Louis. The internship was too figure out if as a future lawyer the DC politics made sense. Didn't sound like it.

Mike Johnson was hosting in his office outside the House Chamber a group from Ireland, so we didn't get to see the house side of the Capital. Overall a great tour with more behind the scenes access then most and best of all no standing in line in the cold.
A few more pictures outside the Capitol.

Lunch time so we headed to the Good Eatery not far from the Library to find it out of business to reopen as a new place later in the month. Sara helped shift gears to the Hawk and Dove. Nice atmosphere and we had really good food. Service was a little slow on the check, but that worked to our advantage as we needed to kill time for the timed entry to the Spy Museum. Plus Morgan was exhausted and took a bench nap.
After we ate, Grandma headed off to the Urgent Care a few blocks back towards the Library.
Grandpa and family took an Uber to the Spy Museum - we had pre-purchased a timed entry, but were able to get in 20 minutes early.

The spy museum was a lot of fun for everyone. It started with a mission for everyone tied to your badge. You were a spy with kiosk throughout the museum where you completed parts of the mission based on the topic theme of that section. At the end the last stop before leaving was the new Camouflage Exhibit that was cool, but not worth the hype and extra cost. Live and learn.
From there we hiked to the Smithsonian Metro Station for a train ride back to Foggy-Bottom and the quick walk to the Embassy Suites.
Back to the hotel via train for Happy Hour, Snacks and Swimming Pool time for the Grands.
Grandma came in a little bit later with her hand in a wrap cast because her right hand's 5th metacarpal bone is fractured.
